Sloppy Joes

Sloppy Joes are definitely a comfort food for me and I think a lot of other people feel the same way! I used to use a packet of seasoning (never a Manwich fan), but when I got a cookbook I realized that I had all the seasonings at home anyway, so it was silly buying a packet. The recipe can always be made with more spice by adding cayenne pepper or additional hot sauce.

Sloppy Joes (serves 4-6)

1 lb lean ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
1 small green pepper, diced
1 8 oz can of tomato sauce
2 tbs water
1 1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
1 tbs hot sauce

Brown ground beef in a skillet with onions and green peppers. Drain any excess fat. Add sauce, water, chili powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Mix well and let simmer for at least 10 minutes on medium heat.
